About Scott

Scott Matthews formed Catching Design in 2001 in Bloomington, Illinois as a freelance business while working as Publications Manager for the Bloomington-Normal Convention and Visitors Bureau.  The name was derived from his days as a college baseball catcher at Illinois State University.  In what seemed a smooth transition, Scott became heavily involved in work for the local sports community working on projects for ASA Softball and designing publications for local minor league organizations.

In 2004, Scott became a Sooner, when he accepted the job as Director of Graphic Design for the University of Oklahoma Department of Athletics.  At OU, Scott handles the design and art direction needed to promote over 20 Division I programs and the needs of one of the largest athletics departments in the country.  While at Oklahoma, Scott has won numerous CoSIDA national publication awards, including twice winning best football guide cover in 2009 and 2011.

As the work at Oklahoma drew more acclaim, Scott's freelance work continued to grow.  In 2008, he was contracted to design the Orange Bowl's 75th Anniversary book, "Touchdowns and Traditions."  The book, a 240-page hard cover history of the Orange Bowl Committee, brought together the rich tradition of the Orange Bowl and its' impact in South Florida.

Since then, Scott has continued his work with the Orange Bowl Committee, annually designing their media guides, newsletters and annual reports.  He also works with numerous other businesses across the country helping them promote their brand through creative and innovative design.

Scott lives in Norman, Okla. with his daughter Ryan.
